We’re delighted to announce that Mr Annakan Navaratnam has been appointed as a national advisor for ENT with the NHS England improvement programme Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT). Alongside his private practice, Annakan is an ENT consultant surgeon at the Royal National ENT Hospital, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and an honorary consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Annakan, who is also the England representative on the British Rhinology Society council, is now working with the GIRFT ENT team to help reduce the number of long waiting adult and paediatric patients across England.
“I am ecstatic to have been appointed to the ENT Clinical Leadership team for the Getting It Right First Time programme. We have a fantastic opportunity to further develop new models of care to ensure that patients across the country receive high quality care,” comments Annakan.
The GIRFT programme aims to improve the treatment and care of patients through in-depth review of services, benchmarking, and presenting a data-driven evidence base to support change. Clinical leads across more than 40 workstreams undertake reviews of their specialty, examining how things are currently being done and how they could be improved.
