What is the difference between rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty refers to surgery that changes the shape or appearance of the nose, such as refining the tip, reducing a dorsal hump, or improving nasal symmetry. Septorhinoplasty combines cosmetic reshaping with correction of a deviated nasal septum, addressing both the appearance and breathing function of the nose in a single procedure. Mr Annakan Navaratnam is a Consultant ENT and Facial Plastic Surgeon, which means he is trained to address both the form and function of the nose.
Does Mr Annakan Navaratnam perform revision rhinoplasty?
Yes. Mr Navaratnam performs revision rhinoplasty, also known as secondary rhinoplasty, for patients who are unhappy with the results of a previous nasal operation or who have developed functional problems after prior surgery. Revision rhinoplasty is technically more complex than primary surgery, and often requires the use of external grafts from the ear or rib. Mr Navaratnam has extensive specialist experience in revision rhinoplasty, nasal reconstruction and correction.
Does Mr Annakan Navaratnam offer scarless (endonasal) rhinoplasty?
Yes. Mr Navaratnam performs endonasal rhinoplasty, in which all incisions are made inside the nostrils, leaving no visible external scarring. Not every patient is a suitable candidate for this approach; Mr Navaratnam will assess your nose during consultation and recommend the most appropriate surgical technique for your anatomy and goals.
What ENT conditions does Mr Annakan Navaratnam treat?
In addition to rhinoplasty and nasal surgery, Mr Navaratnam treats a wide range of ENT and rhinology conditions, including nasal obstruction, chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, allergic rhinitis, septal perforation and smell disorders. He also performs advanced endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) and manages general adult and paediatric ENT presentations.

Yes. Mr Navaratnam has a dedicated paediatric rhinology practice and is one of a small number of surgeons nationally with a tertiary-level paediatric rhinology service. He holds a specialist clinic at Great Ormond Street Hospital for children with nasal problems and receives referrals from across the country. He can assess and treat a range of nasal and ENT conditions in children. He can see and treat children at Clementine Churchill Hospital and Welbeck Hospital.
